TW Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 July 2026

Tidewords (“the game”, “we”, “us”) is a single-player word game published by Convert Case Ltd. We built it to respect your privacy: the game works entirely on your device and does not require an account, sign-in, or any personal information.

The short version

The game does not collect or share your personal data. Tidewords has no login, no user profiles, and no advertising. Your game progress stays on your device. The game does send anonymous, aggregate usage statistics (for example, how often games are started and finished) and anonymous crash reports so we can improve it; these cannot identify you, and you can turn both off any time from the Beachcomber’s Log (stats) screen in the app. This website (tidewords.com) also uses privacy-respecting analytics to count visits, as described below.

Information stored on your device

To make the game work, Tidewords saves a small amount of data locally on your device only, and it is never transmitted to us:

  • Your high score, best wave, best word, and daily-challenge streak.
  • Settings such as whether sound is muted.

This information lives in the app’s own storage and is removed if you delete the app.

In-app analytics

To understand how the game is used and improve it, Tidewords uses Google Analytics for Firebase, an analytics service from Google. It sends anonymous, aggregate usage events: for example, when the app is opened, when a game starts and ends (including the mode, your score, wave reached, the length of your longest word as a number, and your daily streak), and when you tap Share. It also records standard app statistics such as first launch, session length, your device model and operating-system version, the app version, and your approximate (country- or city-level) location, which Google derives from your masked internet (IP) address — never precise location, which the game has no access to. We never send the actual words you make or any other personal information, and the game does not use the advertising identifier on either platform.

These events are tagged with a randomly generated identifier that exists only for your installation of the game. It contains no name, email, account, or advertising identifier, cannot be used to identify you, and is reset if you reinstall the app. The data is processed by Google on our behalf under Google’s Privacy Policy and is used by us only in aggregate.

In-app analytics is on by default. You can turn it off at any time from the Beachcomber’s Log (stats) screen in the app: set “Anonymous analytics” to OFF and the game stops all analytics and crash-report collection.

Crash reporting

So we can find and fix bugs, the game uses Firebase Crashlytics, a crash-reporting service from Google. If Tidewords crashes, a report is sent containing technical details of the crash (a “stack trace”), your device model and operating-system version, the app version, a short log of recent in-game events (such as “game started”), and the same random per-installation identifier described above. Crash reports contain no personal information and are used only to diagnose and fix problems. Setting “Anonymous analytics” to OFF in the Beachcomber’s Log also stops crash reporting.

Sharing your score

If you tap “Share”, the game opens your device’s share sheet with a spoiler-free score card so you can send it wherever you choose. We record only that a share happened (see “In-app analytics” above); we do not see or receive what you share or who you share it with. That action stays entirely with you and the app you choose.

This website

Our marketing website (tidewords.com) uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages are popular, so we can improve the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes information such as your approximate location (derived from your IP address, which Google anonymises), device and browser type, and the pages you view. We also record, in aggregate, which download buttons and links visitors tap, so we can see how people get to the app stores. We use this only in aggregate; we do not use it to identify you personally.

This data is processed by Google on our behalf under Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. The in-app analytics used by the Tidewords game are described in the “In-app analytics” section above.

The app stores

Tidewords is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. When you download or update the game, those platforms may collect information under their own privacy policies (for example, aggregate download and crash statistics). We do not control that data collection. Please review:

  • Apple Privacy Policy
  • Google Privacy Policy

Children’s privacy

Tidewords is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the game handles data, we will update this page and revise the date above. Continued use of the game after a change means you accept the updated policy.
